There is a fine line between a group and a team. Which one are you on right now? How do you know?

A group is just people together. A team has a defined goal. A good team has a strategy to achieve that goal. A great team has a strategy, and they have defined what each person on the team will contribute toward the goal and is consistently seeking feedback for improvement of the team as a whole!

Again, I ask, are you on a team, or are you in a group? 

​

Most organizations we deal with think that they are on a team, and operate from a "team" mentality, but their actions are that of nothing more than a school yard pickup game of basketball. Some plays fall into place, but many fall short. 

​

Dream teams don't just fall into place. There are hunters out there scouting the best players and grooming them for particular and specific roles on a team. The only way they know what players they need is to have a reason to find teammates!

What is your team's goal? Who are your teammates? Who is actively seeking to destroy the team, either knowingly, or unknowingly?

 

These are important questions that your boss won't ask. If you are the boss, I can almost guarantee that you haven't asked these questions of your team.
